These photos are a small collection from an activity that consumed my life for four years. I don't really have much to say about this time because it was mostly just a way to escape the banailties and injustices that makes up our everyday lives. I lost all of my AT photos and most of those from the CDT and AZT, but the remaining images still convey most of what I think I would say.
Thru-hiking was profoundly impactful on my photography. Though I visited some truly beautiful areas, I didn't have the luxury of waiting until the conditions were right - even these selects are often overcast or shot in harsh sun. My camera lenses were full of sand and I destroyed two camera sensors but didn't have the money to replace this gear. I came to rely very heavily on composition at the expense of technical skill, and that still challenges me to this day. But I captured many moments and places that most people never will and this has informed my more holistic view of adventure photography.
